Larry’s Sushi Making Experience
I first came across Miranda and ChiChi Bites when Miranda presented her concept at a networking meeting I was attending. My wedding anniversary was a couple of months away, and I was on the lookout for a gift that the two of us would be able to enjoy together. Miranda’s voucher for the sushi-making experience seemed absolutely perfect!!
When the day finally came, Miranda arrived at our home with all the ingredients and equipment we needed for the session. We enjoyed a glass of wine whilst she got set up, and we immediately started chatting away about food experiences across the world. We’ve always loved our sushi, both the eating and the making, so we had a baseline amount of experience to start the session with. We chatted as we cooked, picking up all sorts of tips and best practice along the way. Miranda is clearly a very intuitive chef, but has the skill of explaining things in a clear and memorable way. This presentation was aided by the wonderfully fresh and exciting ingredients, including the brilliant fresh wasabi root, which was a first for both of us!
We tasted as we went along, of course, whilst also preparing the most stunning spread. We’ve always enjoyed making sushi in the past, but the expert advice and hints really gave us the edge to take it up a level. We were having such a great time we barely noticed the passing time, but then it came time for Miranda to leave, and for us to eat. Stunning. Not a lot more I can say – but a truly enjoyable feast!!
We’ve tried out what we’ve learnt a couple of times since our lesson, and it’s really noticeable that we’ve made great improvements, from the cooking of the rice, to the techniques in assembly and then the final presentation. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Miranda and the ChiChi Bites experience to anyone who’s keen to upgrade their culinary skills, whilst enjoying a lovely time doing so.
Thank you so much Miranda, and we look forward to our next class!!
Windlesham Mid-Summer Wedding
We chose ChiChiBites to cater for our wedding following meeting Miranda at a business launch garden party where she provided the canapés. The flavours she used were so unique, and the presentation was excellent, showing attention to detail.
For our reception we had a marquee in Tim’s parents’ garden, it was very important to us for everything to be very personal to us and our families. At our first meeting with Miranda, she really took the time to understand this and how we wanted the food to compliment our ideas/ theme. We liaised via email on menu suggestions, and we had a canapé tasting evening with both our parents. This was a great evening, and really confirmed our confidence in Miranda as our caterer.
Once we’d confirmed our menu, we had a bride and groom main course and dessert tasting, where we made our final adjustments to the menu, as well as talked about crockery/ tableware. Miranda had been to a local supplier and brought some examples for us to look at, which worked so well with having the sample menu to see how it all looked together.
For our cake, we wanted a cheese tower. Miranda suggested a few places that we could source this, one of which was the Hampton Cheese & Wine company. Miranda took us to their cafe where we must have tasted over 20 different cheeses! The owner was very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time helping us choose the perfect cheeses. It was a really fun evening!
During the run up to the wedding, Miranda made several site visits to the garden to help organise the planning and how the marquee was set up, the flow of guests and running of the day including considering back stage areas/ catering tent.
On the day, Miranda was front of house and organised all food and staff to a very high standard. Miranda really did go above and beyond throughout all of the planning and on our actual wedding day.
We have such fond memories from the whole day and know that Miranda and her team played such a vital role in making it run so smoothly and be so special. Our family have since used Miranda again for another party that we have had and we would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone else.
